Buntanetap for Alzheimer's Disease

Ubrogepant for Migraine

A migraine is a moderate to severe headache typically on one side of the head. A migraine attack is a headache that may be accompanied by throbbing, nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound, or other symptoms. Menstrual migraine (MM) is defined as migraine attacks that occur within the perimenstrual period (PMP) in at least 2 out of 3 menstrual cycles. The PMP is from 2 days before the onset of menstrual bleeding to 2 days after. This study will assess how safe and effective ubrogepant is in treating menstrual migraine. Adverse Events and change in disease activity will be assessed.
Ubrogepant is an investigational drug being developed for short-term prevention of menstrual migraine. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of the 2 groups to receive either ubrogepant or placebo. Around 450 adult female participants with menstrual migraine will be enrolled in approximately 85 sites in the United States and Puerto Rico.
Participants will receive oral ubrogepant tablets once daily for 7 consecutive days starting 3 days prior to estimated onset of menses per cycle for 3 PMPs during double-blind period (16 weeks). Eligible participants may continue to receive oral ubrogepant tablets once daily for 7 consecutive days per cycle starting 3 days prior to estimated onset of menses during open-label extension period (52 weeks).
There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will collect data daily in electronic diaries and attend regular visits during the study at a hospital or clinic. The effect of the treatment will be checked by medical assessments, blood tests, checking for side effects and completing questionnaires.

HAV vs AVF for Kidney Failure

The goal of this clinical trial is to compare the number of catheter-free days (CFD) and the rate and severity of any dialysis access-related infections between the ATEV and AVF groups over 12 months in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) needing hemodialysis (HD).

CBD + THC for Agitation in Dementia

This is a multicenter randomized double-blind placebo-controlled Phase 2 study of an oral combination of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) compared to placebo over 12 weeks. This study is designed to test the hypothesis that treatment with an oral combination of THC/CBD will reduce agitation hospice care-eligible patients with agitation and dementia as measured by the Cohen Mansfield Agitation Inventory (CMAI) when compared to placebo at 2 weeks.
This study will enroll approximately 120 participants of any gender at least 40 years of age who are hospice care-eligible with agitation and dementia (HAD). Participants will be randomized (50:50) to either active study drug (T2:C100) or placebo.
The double-blind period of this study is 12 weeks. A 12 week optional open-label extension will be offered to participants who complete the double-blind period.

ABBV-932 for Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is usually treated with antidepressant therapy (ADT); however, sometimes ADTs alone are not enough to adequately treat GAD. The purpose of this study is to assess how safe and effective ABBV-932 is when added to the antidepressant therapies in adult participants with GAD who have had an inadequate response ADTs.
ABBV-932 is an investigational drug being developed for the adjunctive treatment of GAD. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive ABBV-932 or Placebo in addition to their currently prescribed ADTs. There is 1 in 3 chance of participants assigned to Placebo. Approximately 315 adult participants with GAD and inadequate response to ADTs will be enrolled in approximately 50 sites in the United States and Puerto Rico.
Participants will receive oral capsules of ABBV-932 or matching placebo in addition to their prescribed ADT for 6 weeks and then will be followed for an additional 4 week follow-up period.
There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits during the study at a hospital or clinic. The effect of the treatment will be checked by medical assessments, blood tests, checking for side effects and completing questionnaires.

Buprenorphine Care Coordination for Opioid Use Disorder

The main purpose of this stepped wedge trial will be to test the impact of a bundle of implementation strategies designed to improve ED-outpatient care coordination on long-term buprenorphine retention among adult patients who start buprenorphine for opioid use disorder in a hospital emergency department (ED) and then are referred for continued outpatient buprenorphine treatment after they leave the ED. Our hypothesis is that adopting the bundle of implementation strategies will be associated with subsequent increases in:
A) Cumulative number of days with active buprenorphine prescription at 3, 6, and 12 months after patients' initial ED visit (6 months = primary outcome)
B) Proportion of patients with active buprenorphine prescriptions without gaps in buprenorphine coverage of more than 7 days at 3, 6, and 12 months after patients' initial ED visit

Telehealth vs In-Person Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder

CGM Toolkit Training for Diabetes

Study Overview:
This interventional study aims to assess whether training healthcare professionals (HCPs) increases the number of continuous glucose monitor (CGM) prescriptions for patients with Type 2 Diabetes in a Federally Qualified Health Center serving a predominantly Hispanic/Latino population.
Research Questions:
Does HCP training enhance CGM prescription rates in a primary care setting? Does receiving a CGM prescription lead to improved Type 2 Diabetes control, as measured by Hemoglobin A1c levels? What barriers do patients face when prescribed and using CGMs? Given the significant impact of CGMs on diabetes management, this project seeks to improve CGM utilization among eligible patients through a focused intervention for HCPs and evaluate diabetes outcomes for those who do and do not receive a CGM.
Methodology:
HCPs and staff from three clinics within the same healthcare system will undergo a brief, in-person training on current clinical guidelines and insurance eligibility for CGMs. A booster session will follow about one month later to reinforce learning and address any prescribing challenges.
Training efficacy will be evaluated by comparing CGM prescription rates before and after training using electronic health records. HCPs will complete pre- and post-training surveys to assess changes in knowledge, beliefs, and prescribing practices related to CGMs. Additionally, a small subset of prescribers will participate in interviews about their experiences with CGM prescriptions four months post-training.
Patient Recruitment and Surveys:
Patients with Type 2 Diabetes will be recruited for surveys at baseline, and at 3 and 6 months. These surveys will gather information on their diabetes management experience, levels of diabetes distress, and whether CGM discussions occurred with their primary care provider. Participants who received CGM prescriptions will share their experiences and any barriers encountered. A subset will also be invited for interviews to further explore their CGM experiences.
Conclusion:
This study seeks to fill a crucial gap in understanding how HCP training influences CGM prescription rates and the associated diabetes management outcomes, ultimately aiming to enhance diabetes care for a vulnerable population.

Electronic Health Record Platform for Birth Control

Hormonal contraceptives are medications that require a prescription, traditionally from a physician or advanced practice provider. Over the past decade, pharmacists have gained the authority to prescribe contraceptives in many states, allowing patients to access these medications directly in pharmacies without first seeing another healthcare provider. The Pharmacist Resource to Implement Services as Modules (PRISM) is an Electronic Health Record platform designed to streamline workflows and provide clinical decision support, making it easier and safer to deliver clinical services in community pharmacies. This pilot study will evaluate patient-reported outcomes for women receiving contraceptive services from pharmacists using the PRISM platform at five community pharmacies across the United States over a 12-week period. The study will assess the quality of care, contraception continuation and failure rates, side effect rates, preventative healthcare utilization, and overall patient experience with pharmacy contraceptive services.

Education and Resources for Heat Stress

The investigators are studying the dangers that farmworkers face while working in the fields and at home. The investigators goals are:
1. Measure how much heat and chemicals farmworkers in Imperial County are exposed to.
The investigators will ask the participants to wear a special belt under their clothes during work to measure heat. The investigators will also put two small temperature monitors in the participant's home for a day. The investigators will collect a urine sample to check hydration, and also measure the participants height, weight, blood pressure, and some blood markers for diseases using a simple finger-prick test.
To measure chemicals, the investigators will give the participants a wristband to wear for a week and hang another in the participants home. The investigators will also collect dust from each participant's home with a vacuum. Then, the investigators will analyze everything at San Diego State University.
After collecting samples, a trained community health worker will ask the participants a few questions about their work, lifestyle, health symptoms, and any hazards they face. The investigators will meet the participants twice at their homes to distribute the tools which will later be collected. Once the tools are collected, the investigators will have the chance to follow up with the participants if they have any questions.
2. Provide help to lower heat and chemical exposure with the help of community health workers.
3. Measure heat and chemicals again using the same methods to see if the project made a difference.
4. Talk to participants about what they liked and how the investigators can make future projects better.

ABBV-932 for Bipolar Disorder
Imperial, California
Bipolar disorder is a severe chronic mood disorder that affects up to 4% of the adult population in the United States. This study will assess how safe and effective ABBV-932 is in treating participants with bipolar I or II disorder.
ABBV-932 is an investigational drug being developed for the treatment of depressive episodes in adult participants with bipolar I or II disorder. Study doctors put participants in 1 of 4 groups, called treatment arms. There is a 1 in 4 chance that a participant will be assigned to placebo. Around 160 adult participants with bipolar I or II disorder will be enrolled in approximately 40 sites worldwide.
Participants will receive oral capsules of ABBV-932 or matching placebo once daily for 6 weeks. The treatment period will be followed by a safety follow-up (SFU) period for 4 weeks.
There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular weekly visits during the study at a hospital or clinic. The effect of the treatment will be checked by medical assessments, blood tests, checking for side effects and completing questionnaires.
