      Menstrual Cycle-Synced Training for ACL Injury

      Frisco, Texas
      This is a research study of female athletes participating in at least one running/cutting sport, who have no current conditions that would limit ability to perform sport-like movement tasks (such as running or jumping), and have reported to be post-menarche (a regular period). The purpose of this study is to leverage the menstrual cycle (MC) to improve the success of a neuromuscular training program (NTP) that has been shown to reduce high-risk movement patterns in adolescent females. The findings of this study may not only help develop more effective, personalized injury prevention strategies for female athletes, but may also have the potential to reduce ACL injury rates while improving long-term physical activity and health for active females. The researchers hope that this information may help reduce ACL injury rates and enhance long-term musculoskeletal health in female athletes, while promoting greater equity in sports medicine and performance training. Participants will be asked to wear an Oura Ring (a ring that is placed on a finger of the non-dominant hand) that will be used to track their menstrual cycle phases. The Oura Ring will be connected using a software called "Natural Cycles", which will sync to either a smart phone via Bluetooth, or data from the device can be downloaded to an iPad utilized by the research team. Participants will also take part in an 8-week Neuromuscular Training Program (NTP), that consists of two 30-minute training sessions per week, which will include dynamic exercises designed to improve strength and power, balance, and stability, as well as help to build a foundation of muscular endurance. Before starting the training program, participants will be asked to complete several questionnaires focused on activity level, sport participation characteristics, sport-related injury history, and menstrual cycle history, and both before and after completing the training program, participant movement patterns may be evaluated. For the training program, participants will be randomized into one of two groups - one that syncs the training type to the participant's menstrual cycle and one that does not. All participants will receive the same exercises, however, a participant's assigned group will determine when they receive certain exercises. Participation in this study is completely voluntary. Participation is expected to last up to 7 months. This is a minimal risk research study. There is a small risk of falling during movement tasks, skin irritation from tape that is used during movement evaluation, psychological stress from survey questions, and loss of confidentiality. To minimize these risks, participants may request rest breaks or stop participating at any time. Participants may also refuse to answer any questions that are asked, and all information collected from this research will be stored in a secure electronic database. This information known as "data" will not be shared with any person outside of the study team. There is no benefit to participants who participate in this research study. However, the investigators hope the information gathered from this research may benefit others in the future.

      BR-AC + Standard Care for Diabetic Foot Ulcers

      This trial is a multicenter, randomized, controlled study designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of BioREtain® Amnion Chorion (BR-AC) plus standard of care versus standard of care only in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. The trial design will control potential variables that may affect the outcome between the treatment group and the control group by standardizing the requirements for debridement, wound dressings, and off-loading. Weekly subject visits will help monitor compliance in wound care and off-loading, as well as to document when wound closure is achieved. The study will also implement the use of an electronic imaging and measurement device using a standardized protocol to ensure the measuring of the wound surface area and volume is accurate, highly reproducible, and minimally variable. There will also be a crossover treatment phase for those patients that were relegated to standard care only. After their 12-week standard of care treatment phase and for only those subjects that did not achieve complete wound closure, will be allowed to crossover for an additional 12 weeks of treatment with the BR-AC product following the protocol and procedures set forth within this document.

      Clascoterone for Male Pattern Baldness

      The purpose of the study is to see if Clascoterone can help people with male pattern hair loss to recovery and see if the treatment is effective and safe and how well the drug is tolerated by subjects. Within this study, the Clascoterone solution will be compared to a placebo. The study has 2 parts: Part 1 will see if Clascoterone solution is effective and safe compared to a placebo when applied twice daily for up to 6 months. Part 2 will see the long-term safety and efficacy of the Clascoterone solution compared to placebo for additional 6 months in subjects defined as ''responders'' in Part 1. A responder is defined as someone who have responded to the study drug, based on research data. Part 1 of the study is double-blind, meaning that neither the subject nor the study doctor knows which treatment subject is receiving. Part 2 of the study is single-blind and only the study doctor doing the study knows which treatment subject is receiving. Part 1 of the study will start with baseline visit during which subjects will be randomly assigned (by chance) in ratio 2:1 to apply either Clascoterone or placebo solution to their balding areas of the scalp. Subjects will have 5 clinic visits and 2 follow-up phone calls during 6 months of Part 1 duration. Subjects identified as Part 1 responders at Month 6 visit will be again randomly assigned in ratio 2:1 to receive either study drug or placebo. Part 2 of the study will consist of 2 additional clinic visits and treatment will last for further 6 months. Each subject will have also an end of study visit one month after the study drug treatment has been completed or discontinued (it will be one month after end of Part 1 for not responder subjects). For those subjects who complete the whole study (Part 1 and Part 2), the total duration of the study will be about 14 months, with 12 months of treatment with a total of eight clinic visits and two phone calls. Subjects taking part in this study will have the medical tests or procedures described below. * They will be asked about their previous medical history and current medications. * A brief physical examination will be performed. * Vital signs, weight and height will be measured. * Electrocardiograms will be performed. * Subject's scalp will be checked for any signs of irritation. * Two different types of photos will be taken during this study: "global photos", i.e. general photos of the subject's scalp and "macro photos", i.e. close up photos of a region of the subject's scalp. Global photos will be taken to help the subject and the study doctor to assess whether there has been a change in subject's hair growth. Macro photos will be used to count the number of hairs in a region of the subject's scalp and measure other properties of the hair (hair width and hair darkness). * Blood draws and urine sample collection for safety laboratory tests. * Subject will be asked to complete, on site, the following two questionnaires: * Cosmetic Evaluation - a couple of cosmetic questions on acceptability and how easy the study drug is to use. * Male Androgenetic Alopecia Questionnaire - some questions about subject's hair assessment. Eligible subjects will be given a supply of the study drug and shown how to use and store it. The first study drug dose will be applied at the clinic under the supervision of the study staff. Subjects will be instructed to apply about 1.5 ml of study drug with a dropper to the balding areas of the scalp on the vertex and the temples twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening. Subjects will be asked to bring back all used containers of study drug and all unused study drug to each study visit. Subjects will also be given a diary, shown what things have to be recorded on it and asked to bring back the completed diary to the study center at each visit.

      Nighttime vs Daytime Clear Aligners

      The purpose of this research study is to see if Nighttime Aligners (worn 10-12 hours per day or night) are effective and safe for tooth movement and if so, how they compare with the standard Daytime aligners (worn 20-22 hours per day), in adults and children from 12 years of age and older.       The RESET-RA study will assess the safety and efficacy of the SetPoint System (study device) for the treatment of adult patients with active, moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis who have had an inadequate response or intolerance to biologic or targeted synthetic Disease-Modifying Anti-Rheumatic Drugs (DMARDs). The study device contains a miniaturized stimulator (implant) that is surgically placed under general anesthesia on the vagus nerve through a small incision on the left side of the neck (implant procedure). The study will enroll up to 250 subjects at up to 45 sites. All eligible subjects will undergo the implant procedure. Half of the subjects will receive active stimulation (treatment) and the other half will receive non-active stimulation (control). After completing primary endpoint assessments at Week 12, there will be a one-way crossover of control subjects to active stimulation and a 252-week open-label follow-up with all subjects (treatment and control) receiving active stimulation to evaluate long-term safety.
