      Epcoritamab for Lymphoma

      Eugene, Oregon
B-cell Lymphoma is an aggressive and rare cancer of a type of immune cells (a white blood cell responsible for fighting infections). Classic Follicular Lymphoma is a slow-growing type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The purpose of this study is to assess the safety of epcoritamab in adult participants in relapsed or refractory (R/R) diffuse large b-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) who have received at least 1 prior line of systemic antilymphoma therapy including at least 1 anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody-containing therapy or R/R classic follicular lymphoma (cFL). Adverse events will be assessed. Epcoritamab is an investigational drug being developed for the treatment of R/R DLBCL and R/R cFL. Study doctors will assess participants in a monotherapy treatment arm of epcoritamab. Participants will receive escalating doses of epcoritamab, until full dose is achieved. Approximately 184 adult participants with R/R DLBCL and R/R cFL will be enrolled in the study in approximately 80 sites in the United States of America. Participants will receive escalating doses of subcutaneous epcoritamab, until full dose is achieved, in 28-day cycles. There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits during the study at an approved institution (hospital or clinic). The effect of the treatment will be frequently checked by medical assessments, blood tests, questionnaires and side effects.

      Digital App for Exercise

      Springfield, Oregon
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the newly developed Pocket PE 3-5 app, designed for use by teachers of 3rd-, 4th-, and 5th-grade students. Researchers will compare teachers and students in classrooms using the Pocket PE app with those in classrooms not using the app. The main question it aims to answer is: • Does the use of the Pocket PE 3-5 app improve classroom teacher PE self-efficacy and high-quality PE teaching behaviors, and promote students' moderate-to-vigorous physical activity participation in PE, as well as PE enjoyment and self-efficacy, compared to teachers who do not use Pocket PE 3-5? Participants will: * Randomly use Pocket PE 3-5 (12 intervention schools) for at least one PE class weekly, or not (12 control schools), for 12 consecutive weeks during the 2025/26 school year. * Teachers will complete short surveys at 0 weeks (pre), 6 weeks (mid), and 13 weeks (post). Teachers in the intervention condition will complete a longer survey at 13 weeks (post-intervention) to provide feedback on the Pocket PE app. A random sub-sample of teachers in the intervention condition will be asked to participate in an exit interview to give additional input on Pocket PE 3-5 after the intervention has been completed. * Students will complete brief surveys after PE classes at pre, mid, and post, and will wear wrist heart rate monitors during observed PE classes at these timepoints to measure their physical activity during PE. We will also evaluate the level of implementation of Pocket PE 3-5 among teachers via class observations and objective data collected by the app.

Social-Emotional Skills Program for Social Emotional Intelligence

      Eugene, Oregon
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if the Social-emotional Skills for Thriving and Relating at School (SSTRS) Program can help children entering kindergarten and their families. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1) Do children who participate in SSTRS have better social-emotional skills and mental health? and 2) Do parents who participate in SSTRS have more positive parenting skills and involvement in their children's learning? Researchers will compare the SSTRS Program to the regular kindergarten curriculum without SSTRS to see if being in SSTRS helps children to have better mental health and parents to have better parenting skills. Kindergarteners will have daily SSTRS lessons in their kindergarten classes for 8 weeks. Their parents will watch videos and attend group meetings with other parents and answer questions about their own and their children's behaviors and mental health

Launch Program for Polysubstance Drug Use

      Eugene, Oregon
Emerging adults (EAs; aged 18-26) are the highest-risk population for poly-substance use (misuse of more than one drug), compared to all other age groups and are the least-served population for substance use services. The overarching purpose of this pilot study is to assess whether an innovative services package, Launch, can reasonably work (is feasible) and whether providers and participants like it (acceptability). Launch works with both EAs and a supportive parent (or parental figure) and delivers peer recovery support services (PRSS) to EAs while helping parents use an effective, evidence-based program called contingency management, adapted for EAs, at home with their EA child. This study will also lay the groundwork for a future large-scale trial of Launch services.

      Nutritional Snacks for Dementia

      Eugene, Oregon
Malnutrition significantly contributes to the disability and mortality associated with Alzheimer's disease and Alzheimer's disease-related dementias. Thus, nutritional status is one important, modifiable clinical factor for maintaining physical and cognitive health among persons with dementia (PWD). This project will pilot an innovative approach to enhancing nutrition through the use of transitional-state snack supplements, or foods that start as one texture and change to another. Specifically, this study aims to demonstrate the feasibility, acceptability, and safety of a transitional-state therapeutic nutrition supplement among adults with dementia. The central hypothesis is that access to ready-made, savory, nutrient- dense snack supplements that resemble "typical" preferred foods and eating habits will result in improved nutritional intake and status among PWD.

Low Dose Tamoxifen for Breast Cancer

      Corvallis, Oregon
This phase III trial compares the effect of low dose tamoxifen to usual hormonal therapy, including aromatase inhibitors, in treating post-menopausal women with hormone positive, HER2 negative early stage breast cancer. Tamoxifen is in a class of medications known as antiestrogens. It blocks the activity of estrogen (a female hormone) in the breast. This may stop the growth of some breast tumors that need estrogen to grow. Aromatase inhibitors, such as anastrozole, letrozole, and exemestane, prevent the formation of estradiol, a female hormone, by interfering with an aromatase enzyme. Aromatase inhibitors are used as a type of hormone therapy to treat postmenopausal women with hormone-dependent breast cancer. Giving low dose tamoxifen may be more effective compared to usual hormone therapy in treating post-menopausal women with hormone-positive, HER2 negative early stage breast cancer.

Durvalumab + Chemoradiation for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

      Corvallis, Oregon
This phase III trial studies how well an antibody (durvalumab) with chemotherapy and radiation therapy (chemoradiation) works in treating patients with stage III non-small cell lung cancer that cannot be removed by surgery (unresectable). Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as durvalumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. This study is being done to see if adding durvalumab to standard chemoradiation followed by additional durvalumab can extend patients life and/or prevent the tumor from coming back compared to the usual approach of chemoradiation alone followed by durvalumab.

"I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer three months ago, metastatic to my liver, and I have been receiving and responding well to chemotherapy. My blood work revealed that my tumor markers have gone from 2600 in the beginning to 173 as of now, even with the delay in treatment, they are not going up. CT Scans reveal they have been shrinking as well. However, chemo is seriously deteriorating my body. I have 4 more treatments to go in this 12 treatment cycle. I am just interested in learning about my other options, if any are available to me."

      Frequently Asked Questions

How much do clinical trials in Eugene, OR pay?

Each trial will compensate patients a different amount, but $50-100 for each visit is a fairly common range for Phase 2–4 trials (Phase 1 trials often pay substantially more). Further, most trials will cover the costs of a travel to-and-from the clinic.

How do clinical trials in Eugene, OR work?

After a researcher reviews your profile, they may choose to invite you in to a screening appointment, where they'll determine if you meet 100% of the eligibility requirements. If you do, you'll be sorted into one of the treatment groups, and receive your study drug. For some trials, there is a chance you'll receive a placebo. Across trials in Eugene, OR 30% of clinical trials have a placebo. Typically, you'll be required to check-in with the clinic every month or so. The average trial length in Eugene, OR is 12 months.

How do I participate in a study as a "healthy volunteer"?

Not all studies recruit healthy volunteers: usually, Phase 1 studies do. Participating as a healthy volunteer means you will go to a research facility in Eugene, OR several times over a few days or weeks to receive a dose of either the test treatment or a "placebo," which is a harmless substance that helps researchers compare results. You will have routine tests during these visits, and you'll be compensated for your time and travel, with the number of appointments and details varying by study.

What does the "phase" of a clinical trial mean?

The phase of a trial reveals what stage the drug is in to get approval for a specific condition. Phase 1 trials are the trials to collect safety data in humans. Phase 2 trials are those where the drug has some data showing safety in humans, but where further human data is needed on drug effectiveness. Phase 3 trials are in the final step before approval. The drug already has data showing both safety and effectiveness. As a general rule, Phase 3 trials are more promising than Phase 2, and Phase 2 trials are more promising than phase 1.

Do I need to be insured to participate in a medical study in Eugene, OR?

Clinical trials are almost always free to participants, and so do not require insurance. The only exception here are trials focused on cancer, because only a small part of the typical treatment plan is actually experimental. For these cancer trials, participants typically need insurance to cover all the non-experimental components.

What are the newest clinical trials in Eugene, OR?

Most recently, we added Social-Emotional Skills Program for Social Emotional Intelligence, AZD4144 for Acute Kidney Injury and SL1002 for Osteoarthritis to the Power online platform.
