What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial explores whether the new digital app, Pocket PE 3-5, can help teachers enhance their physical education (PE) teaching methods and increase students' physical activity and enjoyment in PE classes. Researchers will compare classrooms using the app with those following their usual PE routines. Teachers who regularly teach PE to 3rd, 4th, or 5th graders and are open to trying the app for 12 weeks may be well-suited for this study. As an unphased trial, this study offers teachers the chance to pioneer the enhancement of PE education through innovative technology.

Will I have to stop taking my current medications?

The trial information does not specify whether participants need to stop taking their current medications. It seems unlikely, as the study focuses on using a digital app for physical education.

What prior data suggests that the Pocket PE 3-5 app is safe for use in schools?

Research has shown that the Pocket PE 3-5 app is safe for use in schools. In past studies, teachers and students in grades 3 to 5 used this app without encountering safety issues. The app enhances physical education by improving teacher skills and increasing student activity during PE classes. These studies reported no negative effects, indicating that both teachers and students manage the app well. As the app focuses on learning and does not involve drugs or physical treatments, it presents minimal safety concerns.12345

Why are researchers excited about this trial?

Researchers are excited about the Digital App for Exercise, Pocket PE 3-5, because it leverages technology to make exercise more accessible and engaging for users. Unlike traditional exercise plans that might require gym visits or personal trainers, Pocket PE 3-5 is a digital app that users can access anywhere, providing personalized exercise routines and real-time feedback. This approach not only makes it easier for people to stick to their exercise goals but also allows for customization based on individual progress and needs. By integrating digital tools, this app has the potential to revolutionize how people incorporate physical activity into their daily lives, potentially improving adherence and outcomes compared to standard methods.

What evidence suggests that the Pocket PE 3-5 app is effective for improving PE teaching and student physical activity?

Studies have shown that the Pocket PE 3-5 app, available to participants in this trial, can enhance physical education classes for teachers and students. Research indicates that students using the app spent about 57% of class time engaged in moderate to vigorous activity. Teachers observed improved student behavior and easier class management with the app. The app's effectiveness is supported by average PE observation scores of 18.6 out of 20, indicating high-quality PE sessions. These findings suggest that Pocket PE 3-5 can improve teaching skills and boost students' enjoyment and confidence in physical education classes.12456

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

This trial is for teachers of 3rd to 5th grade students. It's designed to see if a digital app, Pocket PE 3-5, can help with physical education (PE) classes. Teachers and their students who are willing to participate in surveys and wear heart rate monitors during PE classes may join.
