Coaching Program for Burnout in Physician Trainee Mothers
What You Need to Know Before You Apply
What is the purpose of this trial?
This trial aims to develop and test a coaching program to reduce burnout among physician trainee mothers. Participants will be divided into two groups: one will receive monthly coaching sessions, while the other will gain access to a workshop and resources after the trial concludes. The PREGNANT Coaching Program focuses on enhancing professional fulfillment, self-confidence, and overall quality of life. Ideal candidates are pregnant or recently postpartum medical residents or fellows who can complete online surveys and video calls. As an unphased trial, this study provides a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative solutions for improving well-being in medical professionals.
Do I need to stop my current medications to join the trial?
The trial information does not specify whether you need to stop taking your current medications. It seems focused on coaching and surveys, so it's unlikely that medication changes are required.
What prior data suggests that this coaching program is safe for physician trainee mothers?
Research has shown that the PREGNANT Coaching Program aims to reduce burnout and improve mental health for physician trainee mothers. The program includes monthly meetings with a coach and group sessions. Previous studies suggest that similar programs are generally well-received. Participants have not reported any major side effects, making serious issues unlikely.
The program provides emotional support and professional guidance rather than medical treatment, which keeps participation risks low. It offers a supportive environment to help participants manage stress and improve their quality of life. Overall, the program appears to be a safe way to address burnout and related challenges.12345Why are researchers excited about this trial?
Researchers are excited about the PREGNANT Coaching Program because it offers a personalized and flexible approach to combating burnout in physician trainee mothers. Unlike traditional support systems, which may include general counseling or time management workshops, this program provides one-on-one coaching with a novice physician coach and group sessions with a certified physician coach, allowing for tailored guidance. The program's adaptability is another key feature; it accommodates busy schedules by offering video conferencing and asynchronous learning options, ensuring that participants can engage without disrupting their demanding schedules. This innovative approach aims to create a supportive community while addressing the unique challenges faced by physician trainee mothers.
What evidence suggests that the PREGNANT Coaching Program is effective for reducing burnout in physician trainee mothers?
Research has shown that group coaching can help reduce burnout and improve well-being among female resident doctors. One study found that online coaching effectively decreased feelings of burnout. The PREGNANT Coaching Program, specifically designed for physician trainee mothers, offers empowerment and support. Participants in the intervention arm will engage in one-on-one sessions with a beginner coach and group sessions with an experienced coach. Although the program focuses on the unique challenges faced by pregnant residents, early results suggest that similar coaching programs can increase job satisfaction and improve quality of life.12346
